Anniversary, Best Friend, Road Trip, Wedding - It Was A Big Weekend
Last weekend, Herb and I took a road trip. It was the weekend after our seventh wedding anniversary, and we were excited to sneak away for a little bit of kid-free time. Our road trip destinations included Fredericksburg, Virginia, and the Maryland Bay Area.
A few weeks ago, I heard the best quote ever, "Best friend is a level, not a person."
Which perfectly describes (one of) my best friends, Lauren. Forever we have talked about being besties, but then it feels a little award or deceiving, because for most of my life there's usually been more than one person to whom I give the title "Best Friend." But this weekend we realized we have called each other best friend for 10 years now! That's craziness!
I love how Urban Dictionary puts it: "...Two or more people who, through all the new friends, new hobbies, new jobs, rough times, are always there for each other, no matter how busy they are. A best friend is someone who can make you feel better no matter what..."
Yup, that's Lauren. I'm just super excited she's on the same coast (finally!)... although I'm still a little bummed we never made it to Hawaii during a time we could have taken advantage of a free place to stay. :)
That being said, I thought it was really important to be with my best friend on her 30th birthday, so Herb and left Levi in the care of his grandparents and huffed it down Rt 95 to see Lauren on Saturday.
Quite the chef, she treated us to homemade sushi (OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH so good).
Quite the thrifty gift giver, I treated her to cupcakes and a homemade little something to hang on her newly purchased walls.
It was a fast 24 hour trip, because after celebrating with the Becker family, we drove another 2 hours north east, to the wedding of Samantha and Aaron. It was a beautiful traditional Jewish ceremony, where even Herb donned a yamaka.
We had a great time catching up with Christina, and meeting Aaron (the groom) and his political friends. It was a mini Millersville Music Dept reunion. When I showed Sam the picture below, she squealed and said, "Wait! That's me?! I look soooo good!" It was adorable.
The food was delicious and the location was, hands down, the most gorgeous wedding I have ever attended.

Happy anniversary, Herbie. I'm glad we had a chance to spend alone time together, even if it was 10 hours in the car. I love you!
